19th September 2005 Kite surfing: rhosneigr Wind Direction: ssw Wind Stength: 25knts+ Surf / Sea State: huge Air Temperature: ok Sea Temperature: ok Weather: overcast Max Speed: brown pant Distance Covered: loads WOW what a wind, 25knts with more at times and the swell was house size with four foot vertical faces on top which broke and then you could ride the swells in going scary pants speed.... set up the 13m strike and was in the process of launching when Alex triton said to charlie that i'd die in that wind with that kite (didn't know he cared)...he was almost right as i should have took the 9m , the 13 was fully depowered but with a few holes in the wind i coped (ish).. the best bit of the day was chargeing out through the monster swell, and i'm not joking when i say house size swell,and then slashing off the wave face and downlooping the kite and charging back down , at times i was overtaking the kite, then a madd seat of the pants death run to boost huge floaty airs, 40ft + with a trtavel distance of a feww hundred yards..awesome, awesome awesome.. there were 4 kites out and about 20 wind surfers who were an amzing standard front loop, back loops table tops, you name it they did it,,one minute you'd be charging along and as if you were standing still the wind surfers flew by into some fancy jibe...foe the windsurfers out there they were on 4m sails well powered up..one guy did a kite size jump on his windsurf rig to be catapulted halfway threw his front loop, he came up grinning though.. TOP DAY |
